Dear Colleagues,
This month’s Spotlight on Social Studies and STEM Integration showcases how educators and researchers are melding history, geography, economics, and civics with STEM to support real-world applications, interdisciplinary skills, analytical rigor, and more.
We are surveying DRK-12 projects to collect information that will help to characterize the DRK-12 portfolio of research. We look forward to receiving responses from all projects. In this newsletter, we share data about presentations from survey respondents.
For those submitting proposals, read about changes in the new PAPPG, effective May 20, 2024.
Best,
The CADRE Team
Social Studies and STEM Integration | Spotlight

DRK-12 Projects at 2024 Conferences | List of Presentations
If you are attending a conference this year, view this list of recent and upcoming presentations to find opportunities to connect and learn from your DRK-12 colleagues.
This information is being gathered through two active surveys: the annual DRK-12 portfolio survey of currently funded projects and a dissemination survey of projects that recently wrapped up their work. Check your inboxes for a survey invitation or email cadre@edc.org if you have questions about sharing news from your project. We will continue to update the list of presentations as survey results come in and will promote presentations, publications, and products via newsletters and our website in the coming months.
EQR Hub DRK-12 Events | Upcoming Opportunities
The EQR Hub is offering two opportunities for aspiring DRK-12 grantees from underrepresented groups and/or from minority serving institutions. Please share these opportunities with your networks.
Listening Session: Unpacking Aspiring STEM Education Grantees’ Experience
This listening session will focus on exploring the challenges faced by STEM researchers from underrepresented groups and/or from minority serving institutions when they apply for STEM education grants. As part of the experience, participants will share what approaches and resources help underrepresented aspiring grantees make their applications more competitive and learn from their peers about challenges and successes related to pursuing funding to advance STEM education research. The listening session will be held on March 13 from 3:30-5 PM ET. Register
Community of Practice: How to Position Your Work for NSF DRK-12 Program STEM Education Research and Design Funding Opportunities
In partnership with Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network, the EQR Hub is offering a free, four-part virtual community of practice to build aspiring DRK-12 grantees’ knowledge of the components of the DRK12 solicitation and explore how to highlight personal and institutional assets in future proposal submissions. The community of practice will be held on March 19, April 2, and April 16, 2024 from 4-5:00pm ET, and on April 30, 2024, from 4-5:30pm ET. Register by March 5.
Project Tip: Forming Innovative Proposal IdeasMany researchers report struggling to come up with an innovative project idea for their proposals. As a starting point, it is helpful to:
