Philadelphia STEM Smart Workshop





At the May 12th workshop, participants learned about National Science Foundation and other funded research, programs, and resources to improve career and technical education across secondary and post-secondary levels for middle-skill STEM occupations.
Topics included:
CADRE is hosting a webinar on the Common Guidelines forEducation Research and Development, a joint report by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education, and the National Science Foundation (NSF). The webinar will feature a 45 minute presentation led by Edith Gummer, followed by Q&A as time allows.
Hosted by CS for All Teachers, this webinar, we will discuss strategies for providing appropriate messages to stakeholders, recruiting for diversity and equity, and maintaining a computer science program over time.
What does it mean for a course to be “accessible”? What can be learned from legal challenges regarding e-learning accessibility? What are relevant laws? What are some strategies for making online courses compliant with legal mandates, specifically — and more generally, welcoming to, accessible to, and usable by all students, including those with disabilities, who wish to engage in online learning offerings?
STELAR will host NSF Program Officers Bob Russell and Erick Jones as they present a webinar on National Science Foundation funding for R&D education projects funded through the Dear Colleague Letter Catalyzing the Future of Making (NSF 15-086).
