Two Strategies for Climate Change Education

Brian Drayton from TERC and Billy Spitzer from the New England Aquarium will discuss two complementary strategies for engaging the public in climate change outside of the classroom. Brian will talk about a citizen science effort, and Billy will talk about an initiative to educate the public at informal science centers. Following a brief exposition of each strategy, they will discuss the similarities and differences between these approaches.

The NARST Early Career Research Award acknowledges contributions to science education through research by individuals during the seven years immediately following receipt of the doctoral degree. To qualify for the award this year, the nominee must have received the doctoral degree on or after January 1, 2010. All NARST members are encouraged to consider nominating an eligible and deserving early career member.
The nomination letter should help the committee understand how this scholar’s work is contextualized in the nominee's institution and/or home country.
