Event Description

The League for Innovation in the Community College is proud to announce its second annual STEMtech conference, October 2 - 5, 2011, at Indianapolis' new JW Marriott. Proposals to present at the 2011 STEMtech can be submitted online. April 15, 2011 is the deadline for submitting proposals to present at the 2011 STEMtech.

Educators, industry leaders, and others will gather to discuss increasing student access into and success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and careers. The 2011 STEMtech will also help educators explore the strategic use of information technology to better serve their students, campuses, and communities.

Over 400 sessions will cover everything from recruiting and retaining students for STEM-related programs to using information technology to improve organizational and student learning.

Tracks for the 2011 STEMtech include
  • Health and Science
  • Energy, Environment, and Sustainability
  • Mathematics, Engineering, and Architecture
  • Manufacturing, Industry, and Agriculture
  • Technology, Multimedia, and Telecommunication
  • Technology Systems and Applications
  • E-Learning Resources

In addition to the onsite conference, a web-based version of the conference, STEMtech Online, October 3-4, will integrate virtual participants with participants of the onsite conference. STEMtech Online participants can attend presentations, chat and network with other participants, and visit the exhibition hall. Like the onsite conference, STEMtech Online will have a strong focus on STEM in general education and workforce training, while also exploring the intelligent application of information technology in educational institutions.

STEMtech Online allows individuals to participate in a great conference without incurring travel expenses. Because travel costs and online conference fees are reduced, more people will be able to participate in the most exciting professional development opportunity to come along in some time. As an added bonus, STEMtech Online participants receive a one-year membership to iStream, the League for Innovation's web-based professional development portal.

A special room rate for conference participants has been arranged at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Opening February, 2011, the newly constructed downtown JW Marriott Indianapolis hotel is steps from White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo, and many museums. The JW Marriott Indianapolis is convenient to the State Capitol, Lucas Oil Stadium, and Conseco Fieldhouse, and is in the heart of downtown, world-class shopping, and exquisite dining options.
