  • Peak hours/Fare cost range: http://www.wmata.com/fares/metrorail.cfm
  • Trip Planner/Fare Calculator: http://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/tripplanner/tripplanner_form_solo.cfm?
  • Buy a SmarTrip Card ($2.00) if you’re planning on traveling on the Metro more than twice since they charge you an extra $1 for every Metro trip you take with a papercard.  More benefits for a SmarTrip card can be found here.  SmarTrip cards can be purchased at any station. The initial fee is $10; $2 for the card and $8 in fare value
  • You will need to scan your farecard (to enter and exit) and enough money on it to exit.  If you need to add more money, there are exit fare kiosks at your destination.
  • The Metro does a lot of their track maintenance on the weekends and so many tracks may be down to one lane.  Make sure you listen/read alerts and are on the right track to get to your final destination.
