About Me (Bio)
Fred Gross is a Managing Project Director at Education Development Center. He was the Co-Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Addressing Accessibility in Mathematics project, the Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Building District Capacity to Improve Mathematics Learning by Students with Special Needs project and is currently the Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Formative Assessment in the Mathematics Classroom: Engaging Teachers and Students (FACETS) project. While at EDC, Gross has directed the PBS TeacherLine project, the Columbus Online Math Lessons and the Electronic K-12 Math Curriculum Guide for the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity. He serves as the Math Specialist for the New England Comprehensive Center and provides technical assistance to the all Departments of Education in New England through the establishment of the New England Math Leaders Network. Mr. Gross continues to serve as a Project Director for the development of various online courses for teacher professional development in mathematics including work with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Before joining EDC, Mr. Gross was the Mathematics and Equity Specialist for the Eisenhower Regional Alliance at TERC, has been an anti-racism trainer and was a former school district-wide mathematics curriculum coordinator and staff developer. He has been a teacher of middle and high school mathematics and science in regular and special education classrooms for 17 years and holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Lesley University.
